During the second, Fury saw centre Hannah Murray, shooting guard Chloe Lodge and U15 international Mairi McGill enter the action and contribute to a solid defensive display. But on the offensive end, while creating many scoring opportunities the Falkirk side were falling short, particularly at the free-throw line.
The third saw the student team come back into the game and Fury were down 31-30 going into the final quarter.
Four straight free throw points from Scotland international Laura Nimmo and Alicia McFadden, and back to back baskets from Lonsdale, put Fury in front.
But the game went right to the final second to give Fury a winning start to 16-17.
