Falkirk Burns Club's fitting tribute to bard
Retiring president Brian Goldie congratulated new president David McClements and welcomed guests and members to the function in the Park Hotel last Friday night.
The evening included a deserved presentation of a Robert Burns World Federation certificate of achievement to Ronnie Mayes on reaching his 60th year as past president and club member.

Hide AdThe toast to the Immortal Memory by David Sibbald was one of the best heard in many years, fellow speaker George Marcinkiewicz entertained with a humorous toast to Scotland which took a look at the face of our nation, while newly elected vice president David Barclay gave a magnificent toast to the guests and Simon Murrison an excellent vote of thanks.
During the evening recitals by Ian Crozier, John Merrillees and Grant Williamson, which included the classic Death and Dr Hornbrook and the The Lass That Made The Bed Tae Me, were well received by the assembled company.
Singing duo Mak A Din did just that with Ye Jacobites, Killicrankie, Leezie Lindsay and more, while piper Tommy Couper presented another world class performance. Although he is not a Red Hot Chilli Piper – the club agreed he is certainly a red hot piper!
Another successful function was brought to a fitting end with a resounding Star O’ Rabbie Burns and Auld Lang Syne.
