Barrhead Travel which has a branch in Falkirk High Street, welcomed the UK Government’s announcement on the resumption of international travel on May 17 as the “first major step on the road to industry recovery”.
However, the firm stated many of the destinations on the government’s so called “green list” of places people can travel without having to quarantine upon return were not very practical for most holidaymakers.

Jacqueline Dobson, Barrhead Travel president, said: “We’re very disappointed the green list has many more destinations impractical to visit than those that could be visited restriction-free.
"We hope to see more destinations added to the list in the coming weeks as people begin to think about summer holidays.”
The firm was also happy to see the Scottish Government go along with the green list guidelines

"We have long been advocating for consistency across the four nations and we urge the Scottish Government to continue taking this approach when it comes to travel.
“Both the inbound and outbound travel industries are interconnected across the UK and having consistency will be critical when it comes to recovery. For our customers, having one clear message is important to support confidence.
“There is a significant demand for travel – not just for holidays, but for travel to see family, friends and loved ones and many customers will be hoping to see more destinations added to the Green list in the coming weeks and months.
"Our stores are now open throughout the UK and we’re really looking forward to helping customers with their travel plans.”
