Falkirk Vics: Four local runners help Scots earn superb medal haul at cross country championships

A group of Falkirk Vics’ youngsters were on hand to help Scottish-based runners take home a solid medal haul from the Inter Counties Cross Country championship and British Cross Challenge annual events that took place over the weekend.

These invitation only events featured some of the countries best

runners and was open to those from U13 to Senior age categories. Four Falkirk Vics made the

journey down with athletes from all over Scotland, each representing Scotland East, North or West.

The Scottish athletes put in very successful performances which resulted in them taking home 2

gold, a silver and bronze individual medals as well as 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze team medals. In

the U15 boys race, Falkirk Vics Luke Culliton finished 10 th overall in a time of 14:40 (just 30 seconds

behind the winner, George Wilson from Cleethorpes AC) while Ray Taylor finished 30 th in his time at

15:05 out of 311 runners. Thanks to their fantastic efforts, along with their teammates (James

Wotherspoon, Harmeny AC and Howie Allison, Team East Lothian) they went on to win bronze for

the U15 boys Scotland East team. Charlotte Horne and Abbi MacLeod ran well in their U17 race

finishing 86 th and 117 th respectively in a field of 258 strong runners.
