Claire Mackie and Fiona Gordon started Falkirk’s Forgotten Villages – End Fuel Poverty late last year after residents in the Slamannan and beyond complained they were getting hit by energy bills as high as £150 a week
Now Claire and Fiona, joined by friends Loretta Morris and Claire Malcolm, Councillor James Kerr and others – including two highly skilled chefs Derek and David – have formed the Community Pavilion group to collect food and distribute it to those who need it most during the COVOD-19 lockdown.

“On Monday we delivered 45 hot meals to people and we did the same on Wednesday. We will be delivering meals to people on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We’ve had amazing feedback from people about the quality of the meals they have received.”
In recent days their meals menu has included tasty treats like chicken pie in puff pastry, macaroni cheese with new potatoes, leek and potato soup, sausages with onion gravy served with mashed potatoes and vegetables, haggis, neeps and tatties and haggis neeps and chocolate cake with custard.
The Community Pavilion group, who gratefully accepted £300 from Councillor Kerr and his Falkirk Conservative Group colleagues, received massive donations of food and essential items at Easter and are always looking for more donations if people can spare them.
