Eight Falkirk district masonic lodges are among a group which has generated £20,000 for Strathcarron Hospice.

Lodge members from across the region helped to contribute to the five-figure sum donated to the Fankerton-based free palliative care service.

From gin tasting nights to prize bingos and raffles among other events, a total of 23 masonic lodges in Central Scotland played their part in raising the £20,020 total through their yearly appeal.

Leonard McComb, past master of St John Slamannan No 484, said: “I’m very proud of all the lodges and all the work they’ve done and I’m very proud to be giving this cheque over on their behalf.

“It has been a great effort. Two or three lodges have still to come in so the total will be higher.”
