Grangemouth chemical firm gets green light to install new security measures

Falkirk Council has granted planning permission for a long-established chemical firm to install a number of new security measures at its Grangemouth site.

Earls Gate Energy Centre lodged an application with the local authority on September 26 to install a security fence and gates at CalaChem, Earls Road, Grangemouth and permission was granted by officers, acting under delegated powers, on Friday, November 11.

The planning report stated: “The application site consists of three areas within the grounds of the Combined Heat and Power Plant. The building is currently under construction but will not have a secure fence around the boundary when completed.

“The applicant seeks planning permission for 2.4 metre high palisade fencing, It would be constructed along the southern boundary and northern boundary to link up with existing fencing on the remaining sides. Further fencing will be provided within the site to provide secure areas. Access would be from the norther side through new gates.”
